How to Write a Great Bingo Word List

Aim for more words than squares

If your list has exactly as many words as a card has squares, every card holds the same words in a different order, and many players finish close together. Add extra words so each card is different.

Keep entries short

One to three words fit best in a square. Long phrases shrink the text and slow players down.

Avoid lookalikes

Words like 'star' and 'stars', or 'present' and 'presents', cause false bingos. Keep each entry distinct.

Match the audience

Use pictures and simple words for pre-readers, clues and definitions for older students, and inside jokes for friends and family.
