What you need
Bingo needs very little equipment. You need one card per player, something to mark squares with, and a way to call words or numbers in random order. That can be a bingo cage, slips of paper in a bowl, or a free online caller.
- Bingo cards (print them free with our generator)
- Markers: daubers, pens, coins, beans or candy
- A caller: a person with a list, a cage, or a digital caller
- Small prizes (optional, but they add a lot of energy)
How a round works
The caller draws one item at a time and reads it aloud. Each player checks their card and marks the square if it matches. On a number card, the caller reads the letter and number, such as B-7 or N-42, so players know which column to check.
Most games give the center square as a free space, so every player starts with one square already marked.

A player wins when they complete the pattern announced before the round. The most common pattern is a straight line of five squares across, down or diagonally. When that happens, the player shouts 'Bingo!' and the caller pauses.
Checking a winning card
The caller checks the card against the list of items already called. If every marked square in the winning pattern was really called, the win stands. If there was a mistake, play continues from where it stopped. Keeping called items in a visible list makes checking quick and fair.
Tips for a first game
Start with a simple line pattern, call slowly for the first few rounds, and repeat each call twice. For kids or mixed groups, word or picture cards are easier than numbers, and a smaller 3x3 or 4x4 grid keeps rounds short.
